Art Requirements

Keep in mind that while the art requirements are subject to change based on what the focus is (activity, prompt, event, etc.), the below examples are to give a good idea of expectations. Generally with entries we want to see the artist demonstrate creativity and understanding of the basic elements of design such as depth, perspective, value, so on and so forth. But don't worry ! You don't have to be perfect at it, you just have to show effort.

This being said, there are some rules to follow. Remember to depict enough of your participating lupi in your entry so that you can reap the rewards. You don't have to draw a complete fullbody every time, but if your lupinus is standing behind a shaded building, how are we, the viewer, supposed to know they're there? Experimental scenes - though we encourage showing WIPs to staff just so you don't risk putting effort into something that will have to be rejected - are encouraged! We know there's only so much you can do within certain timeframes, so we try to offer leniency where we can. An example of an "experimental" scene is a depiction of a drawing where one lupi drew themself and another lupinus helping out in Aster and Firefly's garden and leaving it on a table with some clutter around it. There's enough background elements and a depiction of how the lupinus interacted with the (Botany) activity to work with that it's eligible for entry.

Also, please remember to draw your lupini accurately. While perspective can alter how we perceive certain shapes and angles, if you have a medium hair lupinus, please do not try to cheat the trait system by drawing them with hair that reaches their feet. Or if they have small wings, don't draw them with massive ones. This isn't to restrict creativity though, and if there's some context involved we encourage you to write that somewhere, like the Toyhou.se image description or in a claim you might submit. Examples of creative ideas you can use if you want to draw different but similar traits are drawing your lupinus as their past self when their hair was shorter or longer, or perhaps your lupi pup is dreaming about what they'd look like all grown up - and with wings! So long as it's not a habit to draw your lupinus with inaccurate traits, we don't consider this much of an issue.

Activity Requirement Examples

i. Not Enough

This isn't good enough for entry, as it has minimal shading and not enough background detail. This sort of scene will get rejected on the spot.

ii. Bare Minimum

Though technically this scene would be acceptable - as it does have more effort with trying to paint the grass, add more background elements with rocks and trees - it is the bare minimum that would be considered.

iii. Good Enough

Now this is a pretty good scene and will also be accepted. It demonstrates higher effort with shading and depth (as can be seen with the hill in the back blending between the foreground and the night sky).

iv. Perfect

Now this is perfect! There's more depth to the background, more effort with the shading, all in all this is the type of entry that would get the highest EXP gain and shows more creativity! Now of course you can go even farther than this if you were to paint, but this is just right.

Experimental Examples

This is a perfect example of an experimental scene. Though the lupinus isn't actively doing anything related to botany, we can still see evidence that they have: the monstera plant, a journal entry about monstera, and a drawing (drawn by the lupinus themself) of them spending time with Aster, who herself is holding a potted monstera. One could even add the context "Wanderer spent the day working with Aster. She gifted them the monstera plant that they depicted in their diary entry / drawing."
